A case of disappearing blog comments

I didn't think I'd blog today. I was just randomly surfing a blog networking site, when I saw one particular blogger (whom I follow) complaining that a lot of her comments had just disappeared! I thought it was strange, because I've been blogging since at least 2 years (not on this blog) & have never come across a problem like that. Then I came to my blog & surprise, surprise, I had the exact same problem! Though I didn't have a huge amount of comments, I've lost about 30% of them. I'm not really sure what I should do. But I've been thinking about my options-
1) Declare that 'All is Lost' & then sit & mourn for a week
But this option doesn't seem too likely because- Blogging is a passion, yet it is not 'my life.' I've got French classes, college, etc. Besides, if I wanted to sit & home & mourn for a week, mom would kick me out of the house!

2) Put on my Sherlock Holmes hat, grab a magnifying glass & go snooping
No good either, because I suck at html or anything related.

3) Twiddle my thumbs & wait
This seems like the only good option, mainly because the earlier too options wouldn't work out. Do I look like I have a choice?
Do tell me if you are experiencing the same problem!

  1. You are now the second person who has complained about this problem today ... it's very odd. So far I haven't had the problem and fingers crossed I don't. I hope it gets sorted out - have you been to the google help boards? Is there anyone else there having the same issue?

  2. Hehe...I really liked your post! Made me smile! I briefly contemplated step 1 but then figured...they are just comments. I'll survive! :P I'm trying to see if I can leave a message about the problem on the google forums. Apart from that, it's probably going to be step 3: twiddle my thumbs and wait! By the way, none of my lost comments have returned...

  3. Hmm.... I really like option @2. Put on your Sherlock Home's hat, pleeeease! I knowz, I knowz, youa re no good at html but that is one really cute hat. You would look adorable and be uber happy. And um... post pictures of you in your hat ^_^ That would make another fun blog topic.

Anyways, um, cool blog! I am now officially a follower of this blog :-)

  5. @Sid- I know! Very weird. Hoping it sortst itself out
@Psycho Babbler- Thank You! Your comment has given me an idea! I should have added 'Get Drunk & loudly sing I will survive' lol.
My comments keep fluctuating. From the original 130 odd to 80 something to 107 to now 104 (though I just got more comments.) I'm beginning to wonder whether it's just the sidebar widget giving trouble. But I don't think so. Lets hope that the comments come back! :)

  6. Its seems we are experiencing a recession in the world of comments..Hope there is some on a la Barrack Obama who would promise to turn it around...and hope he really does......

  7. Yikes! That is creepy. If my comments disappeared one day, I think I would freak out and lose it completely! I really cherish the comments I get and pray hard that none of them vanish. Oh, please God!

By the way, I liked this post. The humourous touch is very nice and this is a new level you have achieved. Nice pictures to complement your words. Cheers. Hic! ;-)

  9. Yes Kittie. I consider myself pretty eccentric, but not enough to own a Sherlock Holmes hat. On second thought, maybe I should go buy one right now!
Thank You for the wonderful compliments, you're making my day! :)
    And you're welcome.
