Johnny English

Not really a review, just a micro post. I did go to see the film yesterday (Sunday) with a few friends.
So my thoughts on it- It is amazing! Ok, I must I am a fan of Rowan Atkinson, & a fan of satires (especially British Satires). Still, this film is just so funny! Cannot even count the time I was rocking back & fourth in my seat laughing.
What made it even more funny for me is that I had spent most of Saturday & some of Sunday watching 'vintage' James Bond flicks (Sean Connery & Roger Moore ones). The opening credits are funny because they parody James Bond opening credits quite effectively. My friend observed that they might have been a little cheesier than the real thing.
Nothing more to say about it, really. It's a fun film! (Laugh out loud funny, don't know when I last saw one of those). Go see it if you like to laugh.

My last two weeks (in digital not analog)

I have been MIA for a while so just showing you a few snapshots from the last two weeks or so.
Something to be noted: All these photos were taken on my iPod touch on either Hipstamatic or Instagram.
Both are apps meant to mimic the look of toy cameras, except, they're obviously digital. It is definitely fun, quick & you have a lot more control than shooting with film (plus you can see it instantly). But it doesn't in any way match up to the real thing in any way. Film rules.

Lemonade & my mom.

Hummus bagel & some books I recently bought.

A super cute doggie in Goa & Sorpotel in a restaurant in Goa.

Vegetarian Biryani (in Goa) & the stuff that came in the mail for me when I was away- two new analog (toy) cameras, some 35mm film, instax mini film, Sylvia Plath's Johnny Panic & the Bible of Dreams & some vegan lip gloss from Monave.

The Lomography Fisheye 2 camera (that I won in a contest on Lomography.com, hooray!) & the Superheadz Wide & Slim - Olive San edition (cute clone of the original, legendary Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim).

The film! I love film. Even though it's expensive & I keep running out. And a new, beautiful bedsheet.

Goa was a lot of fun. It was the first time I went with friends, not my parents, & the trip was memorable to say the least. It mostly consisted of eating/sleeping/getting lost on random bridges/drinking tequila shots/clicking lots of analog pictures.
I do have photos taken with my Lomo LC-A (my newest analog camera from 1989... the one that started the whole lomography movement), can you believe I didn't carry a single digital camera, besides my iPod touch? Even the trusty Canon EOS 1000D stayed home. But I will definitely share some photos from Goa soon

Bye for now.

Friends with Benefits

I went to see Friends with Benefits yesterday & here are my thoughts on the film:
I am not a fan of mushy, romance flicks but I do enjoy romcoms. The plot started out nice but soon became pretty cliched. Justin Timberlake & Mila Kunis are both attractive people & the chemistry between them is great. Also a lot of fabulous performances by supporting actors Jenna Elfman (I'm a huge fan of her's back from Dharma & Greg days- the main reason I went to see the film), Woody Harrelson, Patricia Clarkson, Richard Jenkins & amusing cameos by Jason Segel & Rashida Jones.
The plot had it's strong points & I actually teared up in one scene - The steak place at the Airport. But overall I think it's the actors performances that keep this film entertaining.
This is not such a life changing film in any way but it sure was entertaining, I found myself laughing quite a lot & I wouldn't mind seeing it again. There is a good deal of swearing & sex scenes so don't go with kids (It's A rated anyway).
Have you seen it? Or do you plan to go? Share your thoughts.

College

I like my college, a lot! I remember being confused about choosing colleges & wondering whether I made the right choice. But that was more than three years ago.
I am very happy I chose St. Andrew's. Here are a few photos I took with my lovely little Diana Mini (this is from the first roll, in fact. The second one isn't even done yet).
I love love love how beautifully lo-fi the photos turned out. The Diana Mini can be very temperamental & stubborn, but the results are completely worth it. (Also, the colored flash gels are awesome! Need to show you guys some night shots!)
I also made a lomowall with these photos on my lomohome, you can see it here if you like. Lomowalls are like creative photos mosaics & they're fun & easy to make.

I know I have been missing, a lot! What can I say? Life is very hectic (And I'm thankful). I bought a 1989 model Russian Lomo LC-A. Lomographers will know this as the one that started it all. I was pretty nervous about buying a vintage camera, all the others I have were bought new. But I was lucky to score a nice one in pristine condition. Excited about it!! This Monday I am going away for a week long trip with friends. Yes I am super excited because I have never been on a holiday with any of my friends before. And yes they're both (film) photographers so I hope to come back with lots of lovely photos to show you! :)
