Devnow Ramekins from Urbandazzle!

So here's something I've been meaning to show you for a while. But to accurately tell you this story, I must start at the very beginning. It all started about two months ago, with the simplest of things. I went to a buffet at a nearby 5 Star hotel & tasted a crème brûlée. I got a little obsessed with making them at home. I knew I could modify the recipe a bit to make it simpler, but ramekins were definitely not something I could skip. Wondering what ramekins are? I wasn't completely sure either at first.
A ramekin or ramequin, also known as a bouillon bowl, is a small glazed ceramic or glass serving bowl used for the preparation and serving of various food dishes. The word is from French (as ramequin), and before that Middle Dutch and Middle Low German. Ramekins are built to withstand high temperatures.
As soon as I had read the description, I knew that I wouldn't be too easy to find (sometimes I feel a lot of self pity because I live in India). I googled a bit - Amazon rates were not only expensive, it would cost a bomb to ship here. I could ask some family / friends who live abroad to get me a set when they were coming here, but again that would be a bit embarrassing. I even checked out a service that ships stuff directly from USA to your doorstep, but 3000 rupees for a set of 4 ramekins? No thank you!
So I continued my internet search in hopes of finding something helpful, & I did!
I found Urbandazzle! They are all about living with style. Be it Drinking, Dining, Decor or Gifting - Urbandazzle is the one-stop shop for all such items.
They have a whole section on ramekins, that are very reasonably priced. The Devnow ramekins they stock are designed in Germany & made in India. They offered to send me a set of 6 ramekins to try. I loved them so I quickly ordered another set (for dinner parties, obviously!) Oh & they also kindly sent me a larger single ramekin to try out.
The stuff came inside a large box which was slightly soggy thanks to the rains (that's been happening to all the boxes I get lately, haha!)
But after peeling off the box I was happy to find everything nice & dry inside. The boxes were neatly wrapped in urbandazzle paper.

After I excitedly tore of the packaging, I found the ramekin boxes (there's obviously one missing, but you get the idea!) I really liked the feel of the boxes, tough & not unnecessarily large; great for gifting. The ramekins were snugly packed inside with bubble wrap.

My pretty ramekins!
At this point I have a confession to make- when I saw how reasonably priced these were as compared to importing some branded ones from abroad, I was willing to accept them even if they were the very best looking - but they are! They're glossy, the ribbed design is very even & I wasn't able to find any blemishes either.

I set to work making crème brûlée at once, which you must have seen if you follow me on instagram. Not only did it look & taste nice, I had a lot of pride seeing as how I made them myself (with a little help from mom, of course!)
So I'm starting a little series on this blog called 'baking with ramekins' to show you guys what you can do with ramekins & how awesome they are.

Love,
